WHAT IS THE
RESIDENCY PROGRAM?
The Residency is a paid, full-time, 11-month program designed to equip and prepare young adults 21+ who have graduated college or the equivalent. Residents receive theological training, grow in spiritual formation, and gain ministry experience while being coached by seasoned leaders.

Lakepointe Residents come here to be sent! Graduating Residents will be available to hire at churches across the country (click here to see a list of those eligible for hire).
What are the eligibility requirements?
- The Lakepointe Residency is designed for young adults aged 21–25 who have graduated college or the equivalent and are called to ministry.
- All Residents must have a vehicle in order to serve with us.
Are international students eligible?
- International students who are currently studying in the US with an independent work authorization, such as through OPT, may be eligible to participate. The program does not provide visa sponsorship.
Are married couples eligible?
- Absolutely! Single individuals and married couples thrive in the Residency. For planning purposes, we ask that you share wedding dates with us in advance during the interview process if applicable.

What resources are provided?
- Lakepointe Residents are paid a monthly salary of $1,000. All Residents live together in community in fully provided, semi-furnished, apartment-style housing. Housing is centrally located across all of our campuses.
- For married couples: if both spouses are in the Residency together, housing is fully provided. If one spouse is in the Residency, over 50% of housing costs are covered.
- In addition, Residents will receive a MacBook and any other books/resources needed for training.
What is the application process like?
- After an application is submitted and all application requirements are completed, applicants may be selected to walk through a multi-step interview process with the School of Ministry team. These interviews may be over the phone, video call, or in person.
What is the duration of the Residency?
- The Lakepointe Residency is an 11-month program beginning in mid-June and ending in mid-May.
- Toward the end of the Residency, Residents are able to apply for a second year in which they could be eligible for full-time hire beyond the Residency at and outside Lakepointe. Entering a second year is not a requirement for full-time hire outside Lakepointe, and applications are considered on a case-by-case basis.
What will the schedule be like?
- The Lakepointe Residency is full-time!
- Becasue it is full-time, it is not conducive to hold another job or be enrolled in school during the Residency (See below for info on training provided in the Residency).
- The first four weeks will include student camp and training that equips Residents to walk confidently in their calling and carry our culture. Residents are then intentionally paired with a campus team and a ministy track with the following schedule:
- Saturday – Wednesday: Work with your Lakepointe ministry team at various campuses.
- Thursday: Train with all Lakepointe Residents at Rockwall Campus.
- Friday: Sabbath.
What does training entail?
- Courses covered in the Residency include Old and New Testament Survey, Systematic Theology, Spiritual Formation, and Leadership Development.
- These courses are taught by credentialed staff, designed for on-the-ground application, and are built to equip Residents regardless of prior theological training. If Residents come without formal theological training, these courses set a great foundation to build upon for the rest of their lives. If Residents come with formal theological training, these courses complement and build upon prior study.
What are the development opportunities?
- The development opportunities offered within the Lakepointe Residency are what set this program apart.
- Alongside coaching and development from the School of Ministry team, each Resident is paired with both a mentor and a ministry lead. The Resident’s mentor invests specifically in their spiritual development, while the ministry lead invests in their leadership development on an ongoing basis.
- As full-time staff members, Residents attend monthly All Staff meetings and are equipped by our senior leadership alongside the rest of our staff.
What are some of the hands-on opportunities?
- As mentioned above, each Lakepointe Resident will be assigned seasoned ministry leaders to learn from and be developed in their specific ministry area. In addition, all Residents will be active in small group leadership, volunteer development, and go on mission with Lakepointe Church.
- Residents will go on a church planting mission trip together as a class in partnership with our Strategic Launch Network. Residents have opportunities to raise support and go on additional national/international mission trips with high school, college, or young adult ministry.
