meet our PASTOR

Josh Howerton is the Senior Pastor of Lakepointe Church, a multisite (and multilingual) church with six campuses across Dallas, Texas. He and his wife, Jana, serve together with a shared passion for helping people Know Christ, Live Free, and Change the World for God's Glory. Josh considers his most important calling to be his role as a husband and father, and together he and Jana are raising their three children, Eliana, Felicity, and Hudson, to love Jesus and serve His Church.

Josh’s love for ministry was shaped early by watching his father, Rick Howerton, pastor throughout his childhood and teenage years. As a third-generation pastor, with both his grandfather and father serving in ministry before him, Josh’s journey into pastoral leadership is deeply rooted in a rich family legacy. A personal and transformative encounter with Christ at the age of 16 solidified his calling and commitment to the gospel.

Josh holds a degree in Biblical Studies from Union University and later attended Southern Seminary. Prior to joining Lakepointe Church, he served for ten years as the pastor of The Bridge Church in Nashville, Tennessee.

Josh is deeply passionate about making disciples at Lakepointe Church, developing leaders, and planting life-giving churches through the Strategic Launch Network, Lakepointe’s church-planting network, which has planted and continues to coach more than 60 churches in predominantly secular cities across the United States.
