“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means God with us).

Matthew 1:23

We encounter God through the name Immanuel, God With Us. When Jesus Christ took on human form, He took the name Immanuel. God is not a distant God. He is a God who comes close. We do not slavishly trek the mountainside to some lofty temple. He comes close. He is with us!

PRAY FOR SELF:
God, I am not alone because you are with me. Remind me today of the ways that you have revealed your presence to me this past week. Remind me of what your presence looks like in the ordinary things and in the things that I might have missed before. Reveal yourself as Immanuel. I ask for a personal encounter with you. In Jesus’ name, amen.

PRAY FOR CHURCH:
God, thank you because you are near. We ask that we may experience your presence in fresh ways amongst us, especially as we gather together with family, friends and other believers. May we taste your goodness in our regular fellowship. In Jesus’ name, amen.
