Day 21 | wEDNESDAY, SEPTember 10

Written by Paul Cunningham

be still, and know that i am god.

pslam 46:10

THE DISCIPLINE OF STILLNESS

Busyness can be one of the greatest enemies of intimacy with God. We’re used to filling every moment—scrolling, talking, moving, producing. But God often speaks in the quiet, in the places where we intentionally slow down and make space to listen. Stillness isn’t just about stopping your activity; it’s about quieting your soul. It’s an invitation to let go of striving, anxiety and performance. In the stillness, we remember that God is God, and we are not.

We find rest for our souls not because we’ve finished our todo lists, but because we trust The One who holds all things together.

After these 21 Days of Prayer are over, try setting aside a few minutes each day for stillness. Don’t bring an agenda. Don’t try to accomplish anything. Simply be with God. Let Him speak, let Him heal, let Him fill.

The world equates stillness with laziness or wasted time. But the way of Jesus is different. His presence is our greatest priority, and everything else flows from that place.

What would your life look like if you consistently made room to be still and know Him?

PRAY

Lord, teach me the discipline of stillness. Help me quiet the noise inside and around me so I can hear your voice.

Remind me that I am loved and valued not for what I do, but because I am yours. Let your peace fill my heart and mind. I choose to rest in your presence today.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
