LEAD YOUR CHILD TO CHRIST

STEP 1

Read the guide on how to share the gospel story with your child then lead him or her through this discussion. Click the button below to download a printable version.

STEP 2

Watch the “Story of God” video with your child to learn about the amazing story of God’s love. After viewing, use the guide to have a conversation with your child. Asking the provided questions from the guide will help you discern if your child understands what it means to become a follower of Jesus.

STEP 3

If you sense your child has a basic understanding of what sin is as well as what it means to accept God’s gift of salvation and His Lordship, you can guide him or her to pray to receive Christ as Lord and Savior. Instead of quoting specific words for your child to repeat, it’s best to prompt them to use their own words. A sample prayer has been provided in the guide if you would like to refer to it.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I know I am a sinner. I know my sin should separate me from You forever. I believe Your son, Jesus, died for my sins. I accept Your forgiveness for my sin. Thank You for loving me and for giving the gift of Jesus so I could live with You in heaven. Come into my life and be my Savior and Friend.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

If you feel your child has understood and made the decision to trust Jesus as both their Lord and their  Savior or you’d like help with talking with your child about this decision, we’d love to help you take the best next step.

FAITH DECISION

UNDERSTANDING BAPTISM

Baptism is a step of faith for those who have already made the decision to follow Jesus and have prayed to ask Him to be Lord and Savior. Getting baptized does not make your child a Christian, but is an important step of faith for a believer after making this decision.  It is an outward expression of the inward work God has done in the life of a believer. If you are uncertain as to whether your child has yet decided to follow Christ, use the information and resources above to have a conversation with your child.

If you feel your child is ready for baptism, the next step is for your child to attend the Young Christians Class.

REGISTER

YOUNG CHRISTIANS CLASS

Once your child has accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior, a great place to begin their spiritual walk is our Young Christians Class. This class prepares your child for the amazing adventure of following Jesus by providing an understanding of the basics of Christian faith. Your child will receive the tools they need to help them on their journey as they discuss topics like salvation, prayer, evangelism, the Bible, and baptism.

This free class will take place over three sessions on July 9 & 10, July 13, and July 16 & 17 (Saturday availability dependent on your location’s regular programming hours).
