Each fall, we have the opportunity to give back to our community in an impactful way. By giving above and beyond our regular gifts, we as a church are able to support our mission efforts all year long. Thanks to your generosity we’re able to plant new churches across the nation, strengthen church partnerships around the world and extend a helping hand to the local community. As we pray, give, and go, we reveal the love of God.

Did you know that Lakepointe services are available in a Texas prison? Chico Smith exemplifies the saying, “your deepest misery can be your greatest ministry.” He may have been convicted and incarcerated, but through Christ, he was redeemed and today uses his story to serve others.

Dennis Gant, Lakepointe member and founder of Trinity Restoration Ministry (TRM), met Chico while he was living in a faith-based dorm and attending Lakepointe Church services in prison. As part of the ministry’s focus, Dennis and his team were looking for Godly men ready to change their lives so they could mentor and disciple them.

Chico was eager to change his life. When he was released from prison, he moved into the TRM re-entry facility and hit the ground running, excited to serve and even lead. He became the house manager, began attending Lakepointe partner, Cornerstone Church, in Dallas, and worked at the fencing company associated with Trinity Restoration. Chico eventually bought the fencing company and currently runs that successful business.

Today, Chico and his wife chase hard after Jesus. They faithfully serve as mentors and contributors with Trinity Restoration Ministry, where Chico also serves in leadership on the board of directors. Through employing and mentoring other men who need the same chance he was once given, Chico is paying it forward.

Church planter, Patrick Holden, describes Nuvo Church as “a place that looks like hope and feels like home. A place where your story, your questions and your family matter.” But what happens when you can no longer afford that “place”?

Nuvo Church launched in Columbus, OH, in September 2021, through the church planting network Lakepointe founded called Strategic Launch Network. Nuvo opened with over 250 people in a brand new mixed-use community. It was an incredible venue that they were able to rent at a discounted rate, due to the impact of Covid. However just five months later, in February 2022, they learned that their weekly rental price would increase from $700 to an astounding $4,300.

When this challenge arose, God showed up in a significant way! With hands-on coaching provided by Lakepointe, Patrick and his team were able to find a historic landmark building in their target area, negotiate an affordable lease and remodel the space in just 40 days! According to Patrick, “we would not have been able to afford or accomplish what we’ve done without the additional financial support and coaching provided by Lakepointe and the faithful service and commitment of the Nuvo Church family.”

By God’s grace, almost 400 people attended Easter services, including the owner of their building. He had only planned to “drop in for a minute” but stayed for the entire service. That weekend, Nuvo welcomed 115 first-time guests and witnessed 32 people give their lives to Christ.

God is transforming lives in Columbus through Nuvo Church, which even in another building, “looks like hope and feels like home.”

If you’ve ever wondered what Lakepointe might look like in another country, Lighthouse Evangelical Church (LEC) in Vietnam is it. Lakepointe partners Thuan and Ester Phan founded LEC in 2010 with one location and a dream to plant churches throughout the whole country. Today, LEC has grown into a multi-site church with six locations in and around Ho Chi Minh City with more planned in 2023.

Their desire to multiply in an area of the world where Evangelical Christians make up only 1% of the population creates a need for trained pastors. Pastor Thuan and his team have stepped up to create their Leadership Bible School (a school to train future church planters) to fill that gap. They just added three floors to their church building in order to accommodate the growing number of men and women who are coming to the school. As of today, there are 17 graduates who have been trained to plant and lead churches across the unreached areas of Vietnam.

One of these graduates, Samuel and his wife Tabitha, felt the call to plant during their training. Today they are pastoring a Lighthouse church focused on university students. Their church makes a difference in the community by doing community service, sharing the gospel and going to the hometown of the students to spread the love of Christ with their family members.

The difference that Lighthouse Evangelical Church is making in its communities is unprecedented. Through the training of pastors and church planting, the people and communities of Vietnam will be impacted for generations to come. Your generosity is reaching across the world to expand the reach of the Gospel in Vietnam!
