“…we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy…” Colossians 1: 9b-11
Father, your word is living and active. Pour out your Spirit and your Word today. Pierce our hearts with the depth of your Word. We receive your Word. We love you.
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
Loving Father, You are so kind to us. You are gentle with us, and it is always your kindness that leads us to repentance in all things. Father, You are LORD over our lives, and I pray that You will call to remembrance Your words spoken yesterday. Is there any area You long to work in my life, or in ________’s? I pray that You will guide and direct all our conversations this week and help us to keep control over our words. Life and death are found in them, and we know a gentle answer is able to turn away wrath.
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger.” Proverbs 15:1
Father, I pray You will help us maintain unity of the Spirit in our household. We want Your peace and gentleness to govern our home, our family, and our lives. We want to be led by your Spirit and for You to help us to be gentle and patient with one another, bearing with one another in love. Father, help us where we are weak.

Father, being reminded of your character, we know You are slow to anger and patient with us. May the love of Christ control us in all that we say and do. Help _______ and I to be quick to hear one another’s hearts and needs. Show us what the true need is and help us to respond in love. Help us to be slow to speak. Govern our thoughts and words because we know that a great forest is set ablaze by a small fire. When we do speak, may our words be filled with life. Father, please help us to be slow to anger. Help us to receive your gentleness, and fight for unity even when it is hard.
“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger, for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness that God requires.” James 1:19-20
Father, You are our peace. You give us peace that surpasses all understanding when our minds remain on You. Father, focus our attention upon You. Help us to receive peace from You and bring it into our home. I pray our home will be a place saturated with Your love, kindness, and peace. Father, please help us to not let a root of bitterness invade our home but help us to have peaceful communication for the sake of being reconciled in love. Nothing is impossible with You. Father, govern our conversations. Help them to grow us closer to one another and closer to You. Do not let satan get a stronghold and allow roots of bitterness to grow. Help us pull those roots up. You give us the grace; You give us the power, and we will give You the glory for the work You are doing in and through us.
“Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble…” Hebrews 12:14-15
Father, grow us in the grace and knowledge of Jesus. He is our Savior, and we give all of ourselves back to Him as our Lord. Father, our lives are Yours and belong to You. We will be restless until our hearts rest in You. Father, we pray that You will prepare our hearts for the teaching of your Word today and that we will receive it with glad and open hearts ready to say yes and amen. We love You, and we give Jesus all the glory now and forever.
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18
Merciful Father, you are holy and pure. You are the Triune God living in perfect unity and harmony with the Son and the Spirit. I pray over my marriage today. Father, place your hedge of protection around our marriage.
“Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Genesis 2:18
Father, as I go about my day today, show me ways that I can do ______ good. Show me specific ways that I can pray for him as he leads, provides, and protects our family, as well as specific ways I can be a blessing and an encouragement to him. Strengthen our union with one another and with you.

Help us to be patient and kind, not arrogant nor rude. Help us to not insist on our own way but listen to one another and remember we are on the same team. Unify our hearts. Help us to be peace makers and let no root of bitterness take hold. Father, as far as the east is from the west, so far have you removed our sins from us. Help us to be imitators of you and do the same. Father, help us destroy that record of wrong, and instead, rejoice with the truth.
“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
